Jobs for Stanislaus County
are critical.

But when?  Patterson, Newman, Modesto, Salida, Ceres and Turlock will provide those jobs far sooner than West Park can.   37,000 jobs in 30 years?  Why wait?  By the time new jobs have been provided by West Park, your local communities efforts will provide you with local jobs.

Each city needs to have its own jobs to housing balance for its General Plan.  Unincorporated areas shouldn't be used to supply jobs for area cities.

Saving farmland is critical.

So why 3,300 EXTRA acres of prime farmland on the West Side converted to industry?  WS-PACE.org is not opposed the industrial development of the Crows Landing air field, some 1,527 acres, for jobs.  If this development started now, there could be some 8,000 jobs in just a few years.  Instead the developer has proposed a plan that will take years to start producing jobs because it uses so much land and is very complicated.

Reducing traffic and
train impacts are critical

Few outside the West Side realize that those in other parts of the county are asking residents of the West Side to bare the burden of horrendous traffic impacts and trains running through our cities many times more than they do now.  The report on traffic impacts details how many of our country lanes will have to be turned into 4 lane urban traffic arteries.

Preserving our way
of life is critical

It is our way of life.  Why shouldn't West Sider's be able to protect it by opposing this mammoth project that will change every aspect of our communities?   Why shouldn't other parts of the county share in the industrial development so that there residents can go to local jobs?  The cities of Patterson and Newman already have a lot of industrial land to offer for new jobs.
